PSPICE for TI: Importing TI models

Hello,

I am new to PSPICE for TI, so please forgive my basic question. I am trying to create a new PSPICE schematic for the LM5156. However, this part does not appear in the TI library within the Part Search window. On the other hand, I see plenty of LM5156 model files in the pspTILibDir folder on my C: drive.

How to I import this part into my schematic? This seems like a basic and common operation but I don't see any information in the videos, web resources, E2E threads etc. I do see a model package in a .zip file on the product page, but again, how to import this data and use in a blank project?

Hi Jeff,

thank you for using the E2E forum.

The LM5156 us already included in the library of PSpice for TI.

Easiest startup here is to select the LM5156 and import the reference design

Thank you Stefan. However, the problem persists. When I try to place the part, I get an error:

Also, the symbol view is blank.

I went to the product page and downloaded updated model files, then directly copied them into my pspTILibDir folder. The .olb file is definitely present. However, this did not work and the message is the same. Updating the library did not work either.

Hi Jeff,

I am sorry you received an error when copying the model.
Were you able to open and run the testbench, that is included in the .zip file of the product page download, or do you receive the same error here as well?

Thank you Niklas. Yes, I am able to open and run the testbench file. Today, I uninstalled/reinstalled the program, then updated my libraries from the Help menu. Now, the LM5156 does not appear at all in my Parts Search. Does it appear in yours and can you place the part?

I think the problem is on the part of the PSPICE Part Search software. It takes several cycles of automatic updates but eventually the LM5156-Q1_TRANS model appears. However, when you load it you get: error ORCAP-2398 etc etc, even though the model is definitely in the installed folder.

A work-around is to use the Place Part tool and manually add the .olb library:
