PSPICE-FOR-TI: LMP7716-Q1 erroneously detected as an external model

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP7716, LMP7716-Q1, LMP7715, LM2904B

I performed the following steps to try to run a simulation with the LMP7716 op-amp:

1. In PSPICE for TI, right clicked on the LMP7716-Q1 and selected "Open Model Test Circuit"

2. Clicked "Run" and confirmed that no errors occurred

3. Selected "File -> Save Project As..." and then saved a copy of the project to a folder on my C drive, so that I can make changes

4. Ran the only simulation profile

When I do this, I get the following error message: "ERROR(ORPSIM-16583): Detected an imported model containing transistors or diodes. For such models, PSpice for TI supports a minimum of one and maximum of three traces. Reduce the number of traces and simulate again."

What's going on here? The model is not imported, it's one of the default models that came preinstalled with PSPICE for TI.

I also tried checking the "LIBRARY" option as suggested in this post: (+) PSPICE-FOR-TI: Simluation Error - Simulation, hardware & system design tools forum - Simulation, hardware & system design tools - TI E2E support forums, however it did not work either. What should I do?

  • Hi Josh,

Let me check on this and see if I can reproduce the error.

In reading the linked thread, the error may reside in the model itself.

    Regards,

    David

  • Hi Josh,

I ran a sim on LMP7716-Q1 test circuit. I modified it and ran again. I then downloaded and ran without a problem.

Did you make any changes to the .lib file?

Here's my project folder for this adjusted circuit (I just changed the load R and C.

    David

  • I didn't modify LMP7715_6.LIB if that's what you're asking. However I'm also getting the following error on simulations that have previously run just fine:

WARNING(ORPSIM-15246): Library index file nom_pspti.ind does not have the correct format

INFO(ORPSIM-15422): Making new index file nom_pspti.ind for library file nom_pspti.lib.

.lib "LMX58B_LM2904B Pspice Model Rev B.LIB"

ERROR(ORPSIM-15116): Unable to find library file "(name of component).LIB".

    Index has 29927 entries from 1527 file(s).

ERROR(ORPSIM-15107): Unable to make index for library file C:\cds_spb_home\cdssetup\pspTILibDir\nom_pspti.lib.

Could this have something to do with it? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling PSPICE but that didn't help.

  • That looks really messe up. My first thought was to re-install, but I see you tried that. Let's see what JC says.

  • If the LIBRARY option is checked, the .out file will show you the definition of every model (primitives or subckts) and which file it comes from.

I downloaded the project (snom093b.zip) and unpacked it, then updated the simulation profile:

    This simulated alright.

  • I think the issue is with my organization's file policies rather than the model. I tried making a circuit with the LMP7716 in a different location and it worked without issue. I will update the thread if I have any further issues.

  • Thanks Josh. We've seen issues with firewall and other computer protection impacting installation or verification required for this tool. First time I've seen in impact a file though.

    Best of luck,

    David
