TIDA-01506: Dither Frequency Generation

Part Number: TIDA-01506
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA240

Hello.

We are working on a Transmission Control Unit. When examining the reference design, I noticed that INA240 is used to provide high-precision output in valve control. However, ready-made solenoid valve drivers often include dither features for valve actuation. Do we need to provide the dither feature for this reference design in software, or do we need to add a hardware circuit to the existing "TIDA-01506" design? If both hardware and software additions are required, I would appreciate your support on how to implement them

  • Hi Samet!

Thank you for contacting TI! We will come back to you regarding your request b/o next week!

    Best regards,

    Lars

  • Hi Samet, Thanks for reaching out. Dithering is not taken care and not implemented in this reference design. I have used TPS1H100 high side switch gate for PWM drive, and INA240 used to measure the current on the sense resistor. PWM used here is not generated from Software or not hardware circuit, I just used one of PWM driver equipment only. if you want to superimpose dithering, you can certainly do it over an external circuit or you can also implement in software. Simple dithering circuit can be found online as well to super impose.
