TIDC-EVSE-NFC: Methodology for diode check in Pilot Signal

Part Number: TIDC-EVSE-NFC

Hello E2E

I am working on Level 2 EVSE which is J1772 compliance.

Referring to your Reference design TIDUCF8.

Under section 3.1.3 Pilot Signal Circuit, things are clear about on generation of  1kHz +/-12V but on reading the pilot voltage PILOTIN as ADC input to the microcontroller.

There is a voltage divider on  PILOT_J1772 200k and 100k and generating the PILOTIN voltage which is given to ADC input. But it's not clear how the diode check verification is happening.

To given an example :

In state B, where positive voltage = 9V and negative voltage is = -12V

after the voltage divider 2:1 ratio positive voltage = 3V and negative voltage = -4V

it is clear that MCU cant handle -4V input, how the negative voltage cycle is handled in the design and how the diode check method is implemented.

Thanks in Advance

Regards

Chaitanya
