The image on Page 1 shows a battery connected to output after the Circuit Breaker.
Can a battery be charged safely and efficienctly without any 'Battery charging ICs' ?

Hi Mike, I am not the author of the design but asked for help one of our colleagues who works on such systems. Please stay tuned. He is in a different timezone.
Best regards, Jiri
Hi Mike,
This reference design is only HV-LV DCDC, and BMS is not included. Besides low voltage battery, some loads are also connected at the DCDC output, so DCDC cannot control the current go into the battery. For Li-ion battery, CC/CV charging is needed, so battery charging IC is required, but it is included in BMS system.
