PMP11371: Full Load problem

Hi Vipin,

Did you copy the design exactly as in the schematic? Did you use the exact same transformer? It sounds like the transformer has too much leakage inductance.

yes sir, i have design same as refrence.

Something must be changed between the designs, is there anything different?

Same transformer okay, what about the other components? Did you change any of them? How about the PCB layout did that change?

Dear Sir, I have copied the entire circuit from the reference design. No component has been separated in it. Due to which I had to face problems later. But once the power supply is switched on, my power supply is taking only up to 8 amps of load with Renko transformer RLTI-1174. When a load above this is applied, the output voltage goes down.

What is your input source? Have you checked to make sure that it can put out enough power and it is not reaching current limit?

If I work on the value of the current sense resistor then my power supply goes to a load of 12Amp. But the section of TVS diode gets heated and starts smoking due to which I reduced the load.

I am operating my power supply at 200 ac voltage. After this my requirement is between 90 VAC to 265 VAC. But after making the design, I thought that I should operate it at least on 200 vac, so that I can know to what extent it operates. But it does not go above 8Amp load.

Dear sir, please guide me I need 5V/12Amp output from my power supply by giving 265 Vac input from 90Vac. And even after this much output my TVS diode section and transformer are not hot. Please help me. Which I did the final test on my design and sent it for production. There is a lot of pressure on me to run this design and I don't understand which section I should change. So that I can get the desired output.

Vipin, Please send the waveforms of the primary switch, the secondary and the current sense.

Also please send a photo of the board, check the efficiency at 1, 3 and 5A output to compare to the data in the test report.
