Please follow these steps to move your designs from one PC to the other. Unfortunetely for now this is a manual process.
Step 1. We have to make sure that both the machines have the same version of SwitcherPro. So please download the latest version of SwitcherPro from www.ti.com to begin the process
Step 2. Now Install the downloaded "SwitcherPro Installer" on your "old-XP" machine and your "new-Win7" machine. Make sure the default option "Yes, migrate my designs" is selected as part of installation so we can preserve your designs on your old XP machine during the upgrade process. See below.
Step 3: Once the installation is complete on both the machines we are now ready to move designs database file from XP to Win7. The design database file name is "SwitcherProDB.vdb3" and it can be found under the SwitcherPro Desktop installation folder. You can now copy this file from XP machine and replace it on Win7 machine . The pictures below show you screen shots of the directory locations where this file is located in both XP and Win7
XP Machine
Win7 Machine
I tried this multiple times and it does not work for me. I am also moving from an XP Pro machine to a Win7 Pro system. Any other ideas?
If you still see your designs in the XP machine then the designs are intact in the XP machine and they are in that file named "SwitcherProDB.vdb3" All we nee to do is to copy this file to the new machine.
The only thing that I want to point out is to make sure that you are picking up the file from the right location on the disk. Once you copy that file over to the new machine and launch SwitcherPro you should pretty much see those designs.
The designs are intact on the XP machine and I can tell I moved the right file because there are several parts that I added to the libraries which do show up on the Win7 machine. The designs however do not show up. I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work.
On my Win7 workstation everything works fine after copying the database from the Win XP-PC. On Win7 you have to start with the admin rights !
Otherwise SwitcherPro can't modifymodify your database.
That was it. Even though I am running as an administrator, I had to set the shortcut to "Run as Administrator" for it to work. Thanks for the help.
