PSPICE-FOR-TI: No connects can't be placed and still throw simulation errors

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM66100

I'm trying to use PSPICE for TI for the first time and can't get the sim to run due to schematic issues.

I am using TI component LM66100 from the TI library, which has a NC pin.

I have tried eliminating snap to grid and clicking a no-connect X on these pins and running simulation, but it throws the error
"ERROR(ORNET-1017): Unconnected pin, no FLOAT property or FLOAT = e U1 pin 'N_C'"

I have also tried editing the properties of the pin itself, marking the pin as No Connect, saving properties, and rerunning the sim, but this throws the same error.

What's the problem? The pins of the component are marked in properties as "Is No Connect" but the sim still thinks they are not allowed to be floating.

  • Hi Jim,

I loaded the reference design for the LM66100 that's available in the tool.

    2 things to note:

    1) It simulates fine.

    2) A wire is placed on the N_C pin. It isn't tied off.

I then deleted the wire, and got the same error.

So, no unconnected pins. Not even No Connects. My guess would be that's a top level rule checker that doesn't include any intelligence. "Are all pins connected?" No - ORNET error. Yes- proceed to next check.
