PSpice for TI Simulation error

Hi TI Team,

While Simulating Project, Error occers as RPC Server is unavailable.

.

Thank You.

  • Hi Arun,

    What version are you running?

    David

  • Hi David,

I am using Latest version 23.1-2024 S001 Windows SPB 64-bit Edition.
this Problem occurs after new update in tool, and also i tryed to reinstall but problem remains same.

    thank you.

  • Can you share the project with me. I've opened reference designs and older projects without a problem and would like to reproduce this error.

    David

  • Before bundling up the project, please try re-booting your computer and starting up PSpice for TI again. That may resolve the sever connection issue.

  • I tryed to open project in 17.4-2023 version in another pc is working fine, after updating new version this problem occers.

  • Is there any option to downgrade the Tool Version?

  • I have Confirmed that Latest version 23.1-2024 has this problem, because i installed latest version in another PC and same problem occers.

  • Hi Arun,

Thanks for confirming. I just re-read and realized that you are using the full commercail release (SPB), not PSpice for TI (which is based off of SPB).

I can open a ticket with Cadence on your behalf, but then they'd only communicate through me, rather than with you directly.

I'd recommend opening a ticket with Cadence in regards to this. I do know that they have sunsetted support for 17.4, but they should be able to help you with 23.1 and the RPC error. When I did a search last week, the only hits I got for RPC were pretty old.

    Regards,

    David

  • I got a reply from Cadence.

They basically said to submit a ticket with them as this is the commercial version.

They also provided the folllowing to help debug the problem:

    Step 1:

    1. Select File > Exit to close Capture and PSpice application (if running).
      b. Go to Windows Task Manager by pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE and selecting Task Manager.
      c. In Windows Task Manager, select Processes and click the Image name to sort the processes alphabetically.
      d. Kill the following processes in Task Manager

    o capture.exe
    o cdsMsgServer.exe
    o cdsNameServer.exe
    o MrkSrvr.exe
    o pspice.exe
    o pspiceexplorersrvr.exe
    o simmgr.exe
    o simsrvr.exe

    Step 2:
Go to Start > Run and type "regedit".

Delete the Capture workspaceEx registry from following entry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\OrCAD\CaptureWorkSpaceEx

    **DISCLAIMER**
EDITING THE REGISTRY SHOULD ONLY BE DONE BY AN EXPERIENCED USER FAMILIAR WITH 'regedit'. INCORRECT EDITING CAN CAUSE CATASTROPHIC PROBLEMS. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO SAVE THE CURRENT REGISTRY FIRST BY OPENING 'regedit' AND SELECTING FILE > EXPORT.
*** EDIT AT YOUR OWN RISK! ***

    Step 3:

Rename cdssetup folder to cdssetup_old present at HOME location
Type %HOME% in Windows Explorer address bar and click enter. Rename the cdssetup folder.

    Step 4:

    a. Invoke PSpice standalone by selecting PSpice AD in Start menu.
    b. Now start OrCAD Capture CIS, open the design, and check the problem.

  • HI Arun,

I closed this because the recommendation was to file a ticket directly with Cadence who support SPB.

Can you confirm if you are running commercial SPB, or PSpice for TI?

    David
