PSPICE-FOR-TI: PSpice Part Search Empty

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI

Hi,

My PSpice Part Search does not work, I don't know why.

I have tried simply everything I can think of, reinstall, change path, etc. None of them worked.

The part search window just remained empty.

I am using it on my surface pro 9 laptop, which has 12th Core i7-1255U 2.6GHz processor, with 32G RAM.

I would be very surprised if my hardware does not support this, since I could run Altium Designer flawlessly, as well as LTSpice.

Does anybody have similar issues?

  • Please try the following:

try clearing the workspace in registry and sed if it helps. For this:
    1. Close PSpice for TI
    2. Open registry editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Orcad\CaptureTIPspice_Install\23.1.0
    3. Delete the 23.1.0 folder

    4. Now start PSpice for TI again and see if it works now.

If problem still persists, please confirm the following:

    1. If the .db file is present or not in $cds_spb_home\cdssetup\pspTILibDir\
    2. If .OLBS are present at above location.

  • Hi David,

    Thank you for your support!

I tried with the steps you suggested, but it still doesn't work.

I don't think the .db files are there, as seen from the screenshot below.

    However, .olbs files are present.

I however had re-installed the program many times, but it didn't help.

The same setup file works flawlessly on a different laptop.

Do you have more clues about it?

    Thanks

    Br

  • Hi Weinan,

The other laptop. Is it your account? Did you install it at home versus at work?

Please try turning off VPN to see if that will allow the library to update.

I can setup a call with Cadence to help debug this. Since it works on the other computer, I'm sure this is solvable.

And yes, this has happened before, but it seems to be case-by-case. There's not a generic solution just waiting to be applied that I know of.

    David

  • Hi David,

    Sorry for the late reply.

I have both the same account. I install both at home, the network should not be a problem.

    I don't think I have VPN enabled.

It would be great if we could set up an online support with Cadence to help me. Would you send me an invitation, please?

    Thank you in advance!

    Best regards

    Weinan

  • Yes, I can definitely contact them to set that up.

  • Hi Weinan,

I passed on your request for a call.

    Here's the input:

Could the user confirm the following:

    1. If the .db file is present or not in $cds_spb_home\cdssetup\pspTILibDir\
    2. If .OLBS are present at above location.

You've already done that above, and I'll share that with Cadence.

    Can you do the following?

    1. Start Capture
    2. Run DboTclHelper_ReRegisterOrCADPluginsin the Command Window (if it is not shown at the bottom, enable it from View > Command Window).
    3. Close Capture and restart

    David

  • Can you double check for the .db file? The image you showed last week only showed .OLB, .lib and .libsig, but that might just be how the folder was sorted.

The file you'd be looking for is pspmetadata.db at C:\cds_spb_home\cdssetup\pspTILibDir

Is there a LibraryUpdate.log file in that folder?

You might also try sorting by Date Modified, although if these files aren't getting updated, that might not work.

    David

  • Hi David,
    Sorry for my late reply.

I checked again, but I didn't find .db files under $cds_spb_home\cdssetup\pspTILibDir\

I found the .OLBS files though.

Could that be the root cause?

But how could we get those .db files then?

I reinstalled again, and still doesn't work.

    /Weinan

  • Oh, I did find pspmetadata.db file, it exists.

As well as the LibraryUpdate.log file, seen from attached.

    7823.LibraryUpdate.log
[2024_May_13_22_35_25] [SUCCESS] - Library Update Started.
[2024_May_13_22_37_51] [SUCCESS] - Library Update Success : C:\cds_spb_home\cdssetup\pspTILibDir\download/pspmetadata.db already Existed for FULL update
[2024_May_13_22_37_51] [SUCCESS] - Library Updated Successfully.

  • I tried all the methods, but none of them worked.
I guess we need to setup an online support, do you agree?

  • Yes. I've shared you contact info. Let me push this.

    David

  • Hi Wienan,

    I think you're OK now.

Just putting the instructions here in case this ticket gets caught in a search.

    add lang=en-US to orCEFSettings.ini

File can be found using search. It's part of the PSpice_TI\tools\bin folder.

    David

  • That was indeed the root cause. Thank you again David!

  • Hi,

I have same questions, Can you tell me how to fixed? Thanks.
