I intend on using this architecture to convert USB-C video to DP upstream and back to USB-C downstream all in one board. Would the CC1/CC2 negotiations from the TUSB422 and MSP430 be sufficient to provide the correct video lane orientation (ie can we do without the TUSB544)? We are trying to minimise the number of components, given we are in essence combining two TIDA-01620s in one board.

Thanks for your reply Brian. On second thoughts and having read through the standards a bit more, yes I would need the TUSB544 for lane flipping.
I am trying to convert USBC to DisplayPort, back to USBC all in one board. See architecture below. I am trying to minimise the number of redrivers (hence why I was keen to remove both or one of the TUSB544s). However I appreciate both multiplexers are required for lane flipping at UFP and DFP.
Has TI got an alternate IC that would better suit this application? I.e. a multiplexer without a redriver function?
