TPS54340: Webench fails with transient simulations

Hi, 

I want to compare simulations between a bad optimized desging with wrong values for the compensation network with a design optimized. I already do this with other designs using this part with different parameters (i.e 12v output), like this:

But with this design (5V output) every time i want to do a transient simulation this fails.

This is the bad optimized design:

Simulation fails with both.

It also fails (not every time) with the default calculated values.

    It doesn't look like the WEBENCH exported URL works. 
    Can you please make sure the two files are working so I can take a look at the design for review?

  • Hello Carlos,

    Have you tried to simulate with just your typical Vin condition? 
    I too noticed there was issues with both design simulating for a 22V-33V input range.

    However when I specifically make the Vin_min=Vmin_max = 22V then it was able to simulate

    In theory simulator is already using only one voltage, not the nominal but Vmax-((Vmax-Vmin)/2) -> 33-((33-22)/2)=27,5v

    In these circuits 24v is the nominal vin.

    I tried what you suggested with a new design, like in other occasions, several attempts simulation seems to do something but ends failing.

    This happen more if I modify components for the comensation network, frequency or coil.

  • Those are interesting results, I must have missed that testing and will retry to recreate it on my end to further help troubelshoot.
