PMP9444: Updated ref design solution?

Hello ref design team, 

My customer is working on power supply design for Xilinx FPGA. TI reference design PMP9444 is an approved solution for Xilinx UltraScale Kintex part. 

there are 2 questions:

 

  1. I am not familiar with UCD90120 digital sequencer and system monitor. I want to know how the PWM trim function works in this reference design? It seems this part can adjust the voltage output for each power supply. What is benefit with it? Why not just set the fixed output voltage for each rail?

  1. This reference design is done in 2014. Is there newer version of it? I want to use some newer parts your recommended in your Ultrasound presentation. Like replacing LMZ31503/6 with TLVM13630/60, replacing LMZ31710 with TPSM8A28. If there is no updated reference design, could you please provide some recommendation of using newer parts?
