TIDA-010253: about safety IC

Part Number: TIDA-010253
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM2634,

Tool/software:

Hello experts,

hope this finds you well.

In automotive-related BMS, it seems that SafetyIC is generally installed  in the BMS,

but is it generally not implemented in BESS?
In TIDA-010253, it seems to be a single chip configuration of AM2634.

Best regards,

Jieyu Zhou

  • Hello Jieyu,

Could you clarify a little more on the specific target of your question here? Is this focused on how AM2634 is used in such an application, or about the implementation chosen for the TI design? Our AM263x team did not work on that specific design and so details on it's implementation would need to come from that team which I can help loop into the thread, but if the question is about the usage of AM2634 in Safety applications I can pull in one of our safety experts.

Also regarding single chip for AM2634 one thing to understand with AM2634 is it is a lockstep-capable device which is a key feature for safety applications.

  • Hello Ralph

Thank you so much for your reply. The question is about if Safety IC is always included in BESS. We want to know how other customers designing their system.

Are they using AM263x without safety IC in BESS please?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Jieyu,

Understood, I have some queries out on this and will follow up as I hear back.

  • Hello Jieyu,

I haven't received feedback from my colleagues yet and have sent some follow-ups.

  • Hello Jieyu,

So the feedback I've gotten is this is really a system level decision and our AM26x safety experts don't have enough insight to BESS applications to comment on this one way or another. I don't know any contacts from other teams who can comment, so not sure how else to help here.
