TIDA-01480: Can this be used for 19EG?

Part Number: TIDA-01480
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS650861,

Tool/software:

Hi

Can implementation (variant -004) be used for powering XQZU19EG-2FFRB1517I if the current supplied by the PMIC and bucks are within the requirements for FPGA?

We are not using the GTH/Y transeivers and the max current on VCCINT is around 8A and VCC_PSINTLP/FP is around 1.5A max.

We are looking for this implementation to meet our extended temperature range for components (-45deg to 100deg). Kindly let us know.

  • Hi prema,

As long as the current limits of each rail aren't exceeded I don't see an issue. Variant -004 seems to be applied to the Xilinx range of parts ZU2CG-ZU5EV.

I don't know the exact differences if you are using the XQZU19EG. Variant -004 should cover the rails you mentioned, but check to see if the XQZU19EG needs any additional power rails that variant -004 is missing.

It may be the case that XQZU19EG requires a different set-up. I would check with Xilinx directly if you're unsure.

    Regards,

    James

  • Thanks James.

No additional power rails are needed other than those in variant -004.

Please check with xilinx and let  us know.

  • Hi prema,

If you need information on Xilinx devices, please reach out to Xilinx on your side. We have other reference designs that we recommend for specific Xilinx parts here: Using TPS65086x PMIC to Power Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoCs

Any additional information about Xilinx devices not addressed in our documentation should come from Xilinx directly at the request of the customer.

    Regards,

    James

  • Hi James

We are looking for power solutions which meet extended temperature range of -40 to 100 deg, for our new design which is based on 19EG.

The part TPS650861, we had previously used in one our designs for 3CG which had industrial requirements, as the part is rated for -40 to 85deg.

  • Hi prema,

You can use one of the variants in the TIDA document to meet the temperature range, but if you plan to use a different processor version it will be up to you to find out what the different requirements for that version will be. Once those requirements are known, we can help to make any design adjustments from there. However, the initial proposal needs to come from the customer side. If you are not using one of the reference designs as shown, we need to know what the new processor version requires.

    TIDA-01480 has the following description:

    • Ideal power supply for the following Xilinx products: Zynq Ultrascale_ MPSoCs (ZU2CG, ZU3CG, ZU4CG, ZU5CG, ZU2EG, ZU3EG, ZU4EG, ZU5EG, ZU4EV, ZU5EV)

ZU19EG doesn't appear to be part of this list. Please look into the processor differences on your end and let us know how the reference design variant -004 would need to be changed. Reaching out to Xilinx in this matter would be the best option for making sure you get accurate feedback on processor version differences. We can help with the PMIC configurations but the initial proposal needs to be clear first.

    Regards,

    James
