LMR16006: Difference between datasheet and TI Webench

Part Number: LMR16006

Tool/software:

Hello TI Team,

We are designing the following power supply circuit using IC: LMR16006YDDCR, however we found a discrepancy between the specs in the datasheet and the TI Webench simulation.

1. Design requirements:
       + Input: 18 – 45Vdc
       + Output: 5Vdc / 0.6A

2. If based on the datasheet, this design is feasible, shown in Figure 7: Line Regulation on page 7 of the datasheet (Figure below):

3. However, when I run the simulation on TI Webench and fill in the parameters of item 1, TI Webench reports an error as shown below

Final question: Can we use IC: LMR16006YDDCR for DC-DC power design with input 18 - 45Vdc and output 5Vdc/0.6A?

  • Hi Lich,

You cannot use the LMR16006Y version with your input voltage range since your minimum on-time can be calculated as D*T, where D = Vo/Vin, and T = 1/fsw. In this case, with maximum input voltage, you are underneath minimum on-time so you will fall out of regulation.

    Thanks,

    Richard
