LM5116-HT: Simulation problem.

Part Number: LM5116-HT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5116

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am trying to simulate with LTSpice the circuit that I would use. The main parameters are: Vin (min) = 18V, Vin (typ) = 28V, Vin (max) 50V, Vout = 12V, Iout = 7A, Switching frequency = 250 KHz.

I imported to LTSpice the model "LM5116 Unencrypted PSpice Transient Model (Rev. A)" but when I try to simulate it, I see the following message:

My circuit is:

Have anyone idea about what is happening and how can I solve the node issue?

Thank you.

  • Sorry, this is the circuit with its component values:

  • Hello Nacho

I am sorry. Unfortunately, TI is not allowed to support LTSPICE and not allowed to install LTSPICE.

  • Hello,

No problem. After some modifications I was able to simulate it. IO have a couple of question more:

*When I am simulating the circuit, I saw at the output current (load current) a negative peak. How can I avoid it?

*My load is a peltier module which internal resistance can be from 2 Ohms to 5 Ohms. With this load, is better to enable de simulation diode mode or not?

*When I use the LM5116 calculator I saw some parameters, but if I design with the WEBENCH platform, I saw others value. Which one is the better? If I want to put manually the component values from the LM5116 calculator to the WEBENCH, How can I do it? I need to modify the values to plot the correct one.

    Thank you.

  • Hello Nacho

    • Diode emulation mode prevents the negative inductor current flow.
    • Please use the parameters in the calculator if any big difference between the calculator and WEBENCH.
    • Yes, you can modify the component values in the WEBENCH window.
