PSPICE-FOR-TI: The capacitors and inductors cannot be used in the Modeling Application.

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI

Tool/software:

Hi everyone,

I am unable to use the capacitors and inductors invoked in the Modeling Application; they appear grayed out in the schematic, regardless of whether I use parameters from third-party components or default parameters. It can be confirmed that a library is missing, as I encounter an error ORCAP-2448 when checking the library files. Could you help resolve this issue?

Thank you for your answers!

  • Hi Yuqi,

Under Help, there is an option to reinstall TI models and libraries. I know that will update the TI section, but I'm not positive if it will update the PSpice portion.

Only one way to find out.

  • Hi David,

I gave this approach a try, but unfortunately, it didn't yield the expected results. I'm wondering if you might have any other suggestions or alternatives that could work. I appreciate your help and insight.

    Kind Regards

    Yuqi

  • Hi Yuqi,

It was worth a try. Since the models are built into PSpice, let me check with Cadence on what can be done.

    They might require a re-install, but perhaps there's a work-around.

  • Hi Yuqi,

I'm going to quote them in full. Please see if any of these suggestions pan out.

Is it only Capacitors and Inductors which are grayed out OR complete menu is grayed out.

If complete menu is grayed out, then probably we can ask customer to make schematic page active and then select the menu Place > PSpice component > Modeling application

"It can be confirmed that a library is missing, as I encounter an error ORCAP-2448 when checking the library files."

When he gets this error, which he tries to perform?

Modeling application does not use any third party libraries while placing parts on schematic,

PSpiceSymLibPath directive is used to look for paths under [Preferences] section in capture.ini  from %cds_home%\cdssetup\ORCAD_CAPTURETIPSpice_Install\17.4.0\

At my machine, this directive is defined as follows in capture.ini:

    PSpiceSymLibPath=C:\Cadence\PSpiceTI\tools\capture\library\pspice;C:\Cadence\PSpiceTI\tools\capture\library\pspice\PWL;C:\Cadence\PSpiceTI\tools\capture\library\pspice\advanls;C:\cds_spb_home\cdssetup\pspTILibDir;C:\cds_spb_home\cdssetup\pspTILibDir

Can user create a video capturing what all steps he is performing (from opening the tool to facing the issue) while encountering the issues and share it with us?
