TPS54561EVM-555: TPS54561EVM-555 Schematic Design Issue

Part Number: TPS54561EVM-555

Tool/software:

Hello,

There is an issue in the TPS54561EVM-555 schematic design. The maximum voltage for the EN pin of the TPS54561DPR is 8.4V DC, but the voltage divider used on your EVM board exceeds this value. Although the voltage range is specified as 7-60V DC, when 50V DC or higher is applied, the voltage divider circuit produces a value exceeding 8.4V DC. This value surpasses the Absolute Maximum Ratings for the EN pin input voltage.

Best regards,

  • Hello Mehmat

EN pin can be driven above 8.4V as long as current sunk by EN pin is lower than 150uA. EN pin is clamped internally to 5.8V by Zener diode which has sink limit of 150uA. Refer data sheet section 7.3.7 Enable and Adjusting Undervoltage Lockout for more info.

I hope this resolves your query.

    Thank

    Regards

    Onkar
