PSPICE-FOR-TI: PSPICE-FOR-TI:

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI

Tool/software:

I am having problems installing PSpice for TI - on a new laptop.  I only installed on 2 machines however i get an error stating that I've exceeded that number of installs.  So now, both machines have PSpice for TI disabled - how do we recover these installs so they can be used.  One machine i use at the office, and one machine i use when WFH - but both are now non-functional.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Michael,

I'll have to submit a request to Cadence to have the old installs disabled. It should be done by the end of the week.

  • Hi Michael,

The old installs have been disabled. You can proceed with a new installation of PSpice for TI.

  • David - so i have to re-install on both machines - there's no way to simply refresh the current license?  Our IT group requires admin privileges to install any application and so this may take some time - hopefully there aren't any time restrictions.

  • David - i did re-install PSpice for TI using the original access key (perhaps that's the problem) and the issue persists.

  • Hi Michael,

Unfortunately, there's no way to refresh the current license. They license is valid, it's just that there is a limit to the number of installs that are permitted. The justification for the limit is a boring business thing. It exists, and with computer re-freshes, we need to work around it by uninstalling old verisons.

I should have checked to see if you had installs that you wanted to keep. In the vast majority of cases, there are no old installs that need to be kept. But it does happen on occasion.

I'll double check that the installs were disabled. Only 1 time have they reported that the installs were disabled when they weren't in over 2 years that I've been tracking this.

Please put in a fresh request at www.ti.com/tool/PSPICE-FOR-TI

That'll provide you with an access key (maybe the same, but maybe new due to clearing the old installs) along with a link. That should work.

  • Here's the response from the licensing team:

    Yesterday I disabled 2 hosts

    CREELDP4V224

    LPF3C9R86

Today I see CREELDP4V224 is active again, please confirm if should I disable it?

If you latest attempt to install is getting the error, I suggest we disable it so that you have a clean slate why you try again.

    Is that OK with you?

  • Dave - so we tried (again) to uninstall and then reinstall the tool - and here is what was reported (Installer 1st stated "License request is in queue - Retry in 60 seconds", 2nd "License file could not be downloaded" - Retry was unsuccessful, and finally 3rd Setup Complete "License file could not be downloaded.  Run the installer again".

Not sure how many times we have to attempt this - but so far nothing has worked.  Seems a little difficult for what's supposedly a free tool.  Any further ideas.

  • Hi Michael,

This is not you. There's some license check-out issue going on that is affecting multiple users.

I've got a high priority ticket in with Cadence. I'll let you know what they find out.

  • One user has had success installing in admin mode.

Please uninstall using add/remove program. Then re-install in admin mode.

Let me know if that doesn't work.

If you've setup the environment variable and it doesn't work. Please attach the qalog.txt here.

If it does work, please remove the environment variable as it will continue to collect data and get very large over time.

  • Michael,

Multiple reports of success installing in admin mode.

I'm going to close this thread, but please re-open if you are still having problems.
