LM51551: Simulation not working

Part Number: LM51551
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5155, , PMP22800

Tool/software:

Hi,
I've trying to run a simulation using the LM5155 model in Pspice and I'm having trouble getting the correct output.
The simulation is trying to get 24V out from 12V input.
Earlier I had issues with getting the gate output from the LM51551 model, and even now the peak voltage on the gate output is incorrect (<6V).
I've tried using different opto-isolator models, mosfets, output diode, using separate grounds, using the same ground but I can't seem to solve the issue.
The simulation design I'm trying to run is based on the PMP22800 reference design by TI.

Before trying to simulate the PMP22800 design, I was able to successfully simulate the boost reference design for this chip.

I'm attaching screenshots as well as the simulation file.
Any help with this will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Priyankar.

  • Hi Priyankar,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I think the problem is coming from the transformer you are using. Please try to use coupled inductors and pay attention to the winding dots.

I recommend to use the flyback testbench, that comes with the Psppice model on ti.com. This testbench is working and you can start by modifying it according to your reference design.

    Best regards
