TIDA-00313: Recommended for high-side negative current monitoring chips(automotive grade)

Part Number: TIDA-00313
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP8601-Q1, LMP8601, INA282

Tool/software:

Hi expert

I looked at your reference design and I don't want to use the current sensor of the I2C interface. I want to use Current Sensing with analog output. And I need automotive-grade devices. Can you help design a solution that can be used to sense 10mA currents?

Best Regards!

Mason

  • Hi Mason,

I assume it is not desired to incorporate a negative supply voltage source for the sense amplifiers?

The LMP8601-Q1 can accommodate -9V with a single 5V supply. Please check it out.

It should be noted however, 10mA can be challenging to measure accurately. It is no exception for LMP8601. Please consider if calibration is feasible.

    Regards

  • Hi Guang

LMP860x    The accuracy is not enough, and the customer wants to test the current of about 10mA.

INA282    It's a very old device and may not be in production anymore.

Can you give me a solution?

If customer going to test a negative current at a low common-mode voltage (-15V), and the current test accuracy needs to be 10mA.

    Best Regards!

    Mason

  • Hi Mason,

INA282 is active and in stock. It can be ordered online. However if common mode is -15V or lower, then LMP8601 is only solution we have.
