TIDA-01243: Questions on Developing a New Board Based on TIDA-01243

Part Number: TIDA-01243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982, TPS65988DK, TPS65987DDK

Tool/software:

I am planning to develop a new board using the TIDA-01243 reference design as a starting point.

I am developing a board that will be connected to a Galaxy Tablet, and I have a few questions regarding the power delivery components based on the TIDA-01243 reference design.

  1. Since our board is intended to charge only via an external power source, is it correct to assume that we do not need the TPS65982 used in the Type-C Sink section of TIDA-01243?

  2. I noticed that TPS65986 was replaced with TPS65988DK in the reference design. Could someone explain the rationale behind this recommendation?

  3. Additionally, can TPS65987DDK be used as a substitute for TPS65988DK? Between these two PD controllers, which one would be more suitable for our application?

Thanks,

Bongeon
