TIDA-01243: Questions on Firmware Programming and Hardware Connections for TPS6598x and TUSB8041

Part Number: TIDA-01243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB8041, USB-CTM-MINIDK-EVM, TPS65982

Tool/software:

I have some questions regarding the firmware programming methods described in Section 3 of the TIDUC52 document for TPS6598x, TUSB8041, and Megachip Device. I would like to focus on TPS6598x:

For TPS6598x:

  1. The document explains the method of writing data to the W25Q80 memory via J17 using Aardvark. Are there any alternative methods available? For example, if we program the new W25Q80 chip with the same data as the chip in the USB-CTM-MINIDK-EVM, will it operate correctly?

  2. I’ve noticed that some other E2E forum posts mention using the 'Application Customization GUI'. Could you please explain the differences between using the Total Phase Flash Center, as described in TIDUC52, and using the Application Customization GUI? Understanding the pros and cons of each approach would be very helpful.

  3. In the development board schematic, I noticed that U1024 has FTDI_TN and TP pins. It appears that these are connected through resistors to TPS65986 and TPS65982. Could you provide guidance on how these pins should be used?

  4. Where can I find the USBCMINIDKEVM_v1.7.12_flash_image.bin file referenced in the documentation?

For TUSB8041:

  1. Where can I obtain the TUSB80xx EEPROM Programmer and the text file TUSB8041_POL_HI_ECRON_FULLPWROFF_U1U2On.txt mentioned in the document?

  2. If the TUSB8041 I purchased does not have firmware written separately, will it fail to operate correctly?

Thank you for your assistance!
