TIDA-01606: Importance of L4 and L5

Part Number: TIDA-01606

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

Can you share the importance of L4 and L5 in the design? Why are they needed and how were they selected?

Thank you,

Daniel Waleniak

  • Daniel,

you need common mode chokes for noise mitigation.  in the schematic, you can see our notes with regards to the targeted frequencies for attenuation (60hz, and 200khz).

we expect to have switching frequency harmonics / noise that we need to attenuate.  for cispr 25, the frequency band of interest starts at 150khz.

I recommend working with a vendor like Bourns if you need a custom choke.
