UCC28951: UCC28951QPWRQ1 Transformer design

Part Number: UCC28951

Tool/software:

Hello,

We have designed phase shift full bridge circuit of 500W for one of our projects using we bench.

In design we have customized transformer, we are not able to identify the transformer details for arranging prototypes(we have inductance details and resistance, but no. of winding details are not provided, there is some description Ns1 to Np=58.015m, Ns2 to Np=0.058)

can anyone support.

  • Hello,

Typically, when designing a power supply reference designs, we don’t design the magnetics in house.  We will calculate the turns ratio and transformer currents and have a magnetic manufacture like Wurth design the transformers for us to use in our designs.

The following link will bring you to an application tool that goes through the step by step design process of a PSFB using the UCC28951.  There is a link to an excel tool inside that use the same calculations.

These tools will calculate the transformer turns ratio, magnetizing inductance and transformer peak and RMS currents.   This information can be used to send to a magnetic design house to have a custom magnetic designed for you.

If you would like to design the magnetics yourself, I would suggest mag-inc as a resource.  They have many application notes on how to design transformers and can support you in your magnetic design efforts.
