TIDA-050045: sec-side MOSFET question

Part Number: TIDA-050045
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD18514Q5A

Tool/software:

Hi,

Couple of questions from my customer, could you help check?

1. The photo is wrong? It misused the pic of the TPS23730EVM, which the sec-side two MOSFETs are the same.

From the BOM, Q6 and Q8 are different.

2. Customer is questioning why 100A MOSFET is selected. I check the D/S, it will need to derate the Id when the junction temp rises while we are having it cooled by free air. Correct?

Thanks,

Zach

  • Hi Zach,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    1. TIDA-050045 is the 5A/10V version of TPS23730EVM that uses the same PCB. The newest TIDA-050045 had changed the printing to replace "TPS23730EVM". But the board are same just with different BOMs. Let me know if you need the PCB document.

    2. No need for 100V NMOS. 40V should be enough for 5V/10A output. CSD18514Q5A can be considered.

You can leave FET without heatsink, MOSFET is not hot and snubber resistors could be. You can use 2512 size resistor for lower temperature rise.

    Best regards,

    Diang
