TIDA-050087: TPS6591605 EN/PB/VSENSE questions

Hi Michael,

We have TPS6521940 configured for i.MX93 design. You can look at the settings at the below TRM.

TPS6521905, the user programmable version, comes with all the rails disabled and EN/PB configured in PB, so when this pin is tied to VSYS, PMIC will power up in OFF state with all rails disabled and this will give the option to the user to configure the PMIC before executing the power up sequence.

Yes i saw the tps6521940, but as i mentioned before, i changed a little bit the design so i need a different configuration.

My question was how to use the PB/EN pin effective because i will need to pu it to vsys for first configuration but than i want to configure it as EN and connect it to PMIC_ON_REQ from i.mx

I thought maybe to use an analog switch or you have other suggestion? 

Yes on production board. And yeah 0 ohm is our least favourite option because it will require to program, then remove resistor and solder different one on each board.

What about the preconfigured devices you have? What changes i can make on them

Okay i though maybe connecting the EN/PB to an fpga and to a PU to vsys and the PMIC_ON_REQ to the fpga too.

At first the fpga gpio will be high z so would br able to configure the pmic, then after that the fpga will pull the EN/PB to low until PMIC_ON_REQ goes to high.

Is there indication i can use from the pmic to know it is not configured and when its configured?

Or even better, keep it as PB and fpga will pull it low when it gets thr PMIC_ON_REQ from the imx

Hi Michael,

When PB is changed to EN and is pu to VSYS, it will have rails enabled. Also, bit 7 in register 0x26 set to 1 after programming.
