TIDA-010054: The purpose of the copper plates on the sides of the transformer

Part Number: TIDA-010054

Tool/software:

I noticed that the transformer has copper plates bolted to its sides in the actual hardware. Could you please explain what their purpose is?
Is it possible that an inductor is mounted on top of the transformer, and that the copper plates are used to connect both the inductor and the transformer to the circuit?

  • Hello,

    Thanks for reaching out.
You are correct, the inductor is mounted on top of the transformer. The copper parts are cable lugs which are used to connect the transformer to the PCB. The other end of the cable is soldered to the PCB directly.

    Best regards,

    Andreas
