Hello

We are starting a new project of single phase inverter for BESS application with power 2500-3000W, Ubatnom=48VDC. Uac=230V. We really like this idea of single stage topology.

1. In your opinion, what is the realistic maximum recommended power output achievable for this single phase and single stage topology when there is only a half bridge on the AC side?

2. For higher performance and better efficiency is it possible to use a full-bridge topology on the AC side? For example Series Resonant -Dual Active Bridge which you have in the PMP41131 design?

  • Hi Martin,
The TIDA-010954 is a heatsink-less design, so I was very limited by thermals. If you are targeting 2.5-3kW - the heatsink is really needed. I believe that 1.2kW is possible if you just add a proper heatsink.
If you need to go higher in power - the LV side will become a bottleneck - the currents will be very high. To deal with these currents I recommend to design LV side with 4x LMG3100R017 instead of 2xLMG2100 and add heatsink on top.
Using full bridge on AC side will be helpful. As starting point - you can just copy diagonal gate signals from existing design. Than you can add extended phase shift in secondary side for more optimal control.

    Best regards, Seva.
