TIDA-01005: Need a suitable deserializer IC

Part Number: TIDA-01005

Tool/software:

Hi,

Currently, for our application we are trying to design a custom carrier board using Jetson AGX Orin development board as reference and integrate multiple cameras (12-16) using GMSL2. Cameras are to be operated at 30fps. Can you suggest suitable deserializer IC that can meet the requirement and share any reference designs if available for the recommended product.

Further, along with jetson orin agx, we are using STURDeCAM31 cameras from e-con and FLIR ADK from teledyne FLIR.

In view of the above, kindly suggest the deserializer that supports upto 16 camera's with the above mentioned hardware.

How many deserializers of TIDA-01005 are required to maximize the fps on jetson AGX Orin board for 16 cameras?

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. The TIDA-01005 uses a single quad deserializer to pair with 4 cameras. The max number of cameras that can be supported by a deserializer is 4, so to support up to 16 cameras, 4x quad deserializers will be needed. What resolution cameras will be used? Will each camera have the same resolution?

Also please note that GMSL and FPD-Link use different protocols and are not compatible. A GMSL serializer can not be paired with a FPD-Link deserializer. To use a FPD-Link deserializer, a FPD-Link serializer must be the partner device. For most cases a DS90UB953 serializer and a DS90UB960 quad deserializer are fitting devices for this kind of application.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the response!

How many channels of Jetson AGX ORIN will be occupied by TIDA-01005 ?

    6 cameras of 1920 x 1080  and 6 cameras of 640 x 512

  • Hello,

What do you mean by channels? The TIDA-01005 reference design was designed to use a board to board connector to connect to a TDA processor EVM. The deserializers will output the camera data on CSI ports, the number of ports used depends slightly on how the system will output the data. For example, should all four cameras be aggregated on one stream (i.e. the deserializer uses one CSI port - this also means the bandwidth of the four cameras together must be within the deserializers CSI TX output bandwidth) or will the four cameras be broken up in two groups (i.e. the deserializer will use two CSI ports with 2 camera streams output on each).
