WEBENCH-CIRCUIT-DESIGNER: Frequent outdated passive component recommendations in WEBENCH

Part Number: WEBENCH-CIRCUIT-DESIGNER

Dear WEBENCH experts,

when using the WEBENCH power designer for DC/DC converters, for example your TPS564242DRLR device, I often end up being shown long-obsolete components in the BOM editor. For example when selecting an alternate 220nH inductor, one of the suggestions is Bourns SRP4012-R22M, which has been discontinued and replaced by SRP4012TA-R22M nine years ago!

https://www.bourns.com/docs/technical-documents/product-obsolescence-memos/ic1687_srp4012_srp4020_pom.pdf

With Coilcraft products, the situation is even worse - almost none of the Coilcraft product MPN suggested by WEBENCH are still available for sale. Apparently they all have been replaced by more modern Coilcraft components long ago.

The situation with Wurth / WE components is similar. Quite a few of their components listed by WEBENCH are obsolete by now.

Those three brands are just a random example - I think I already got recommendations for no longer available components from all the well known brands proposed by WEBENCH.

I assume all component manufacturers are proud of having their products suggested by WEBENCH, so I hope TI can acquire updated product parameter databases from them to use in WEBENCH.

Thank you!
