(I tried to post earlier,

but the text for some reason did not come through.)

I am desperately trying to find a way,

to get SOME software suite to accurately simulate a boost converter configuration.

I have tried PSpice, and the TPS 40210 model is rejecting the Analog.olb library.

I am currently trying to use TINA TI, and there are bugs.

At the moment, I am merely trying to verify the results against a Power Web Bench generated schematic

on TINA TI. 

Things you should know:

1) I am using the TPS 40210 Transient Steady State model.

2) I have built the circuit, and have attempted to use the Steady State Solver,

however, a tech agent from Designsoft informed me over email, that there is a bug

with the steady state solver, and to use the 'Transient' option under the Analysis menu, instead.

I have attempted to use the Transient option, but I am not seeing the FET switch.

I took the 'Noname' FET model and adjusted the parameters to the values of the actual switch I would like to be using.

I verified that the macro model is working by observing the GDRV pin, and it eventually does begin to swing,

but I am not seeing any switching/toggling action at the drain of the FET, or at the output.

3) I am not positive if I am using the Transient option correctly.

I want to see the boost converter switch and provide the correct output voltage.

4) I attempted to attach my circuit schematic to this post, but it would not accept the .tsc format.

5) Specs I am trying to achieve,

Vin : 9 - 20 V

Vout : 25V @ 1A output current

Help!

I need to SIMULATE!

    For debugging in PSpice, I would need to know the version of PSpice you are using. If it is earlier than 15.7, the encrypted .lib file would not be understood. I do not know of an Analog.olb file included in this model. Please let me know if you prefer to use PSpice.

    Did you create a design schematic in Webench using the TPS40210 and copy it into TINA-TI? If so, can you attach a picture of the Webench design?

    Let's start here with the TINA-TI questions. Since you have downloaded TINA-TI and the Steady State reference design, start with it first to make sure that you are using TINA-TI correctly. If you use the unmodified Web circuit, you should be able to simply click on Analysis---> Transient... and the window will appear. If you simply click on OK, the simulation will run and you should see a set of waveforms (Vout, iind, and load). Since this is a steady state model, ignore the initial part of the waveform (this is not part of the devices' behavior, but the simulators behavior becasue of the initial conditions used.

    Do not use the Steady State Solver. The model and reference designs are developed for transient simulation.

    Once you have verified that the unmodified simulation works, begin making your modifications. Since you are not seeing any current switching in the FET, I would guess that the FET model was not functioning correctly. Try using one of the built in FET models that is similar to the actual FET. I am not sure that the Noname FET is a good choice.

    Ideally, if you could attach the .tsc file it would be much easier for degubbing. The .tsc file should be attached using the "Insert File" function. I have not seen this as a problem before.

    You can also use the "Insert Image" to upload a picture of the design schematic.
