TPS7H4011-SP: Issue simulating inverting configuration of TPS7H4011-SP in PSpice (5 V to negative output)

I am trying to simulate the inverting buck-boost configuration of the TPS7H4011-SP using the official PSpice model provided by Texas Instruments.

My goal is to generate a negative output voltage starting from a +5 V input (for example −3.3 V or −1.5 V).

I implemented the circuit following the inverting configuration shown in the TPS7H4011-SP datasheet, but the simulation does not work as expected.

Observed behavior in PSpice:

  • The SW node does not switch.

  • The output voltage stays around −200 mV instead of regulating to the target negative voltage.

  • The controller appears not to start switching at all.

What I already checked:

  • EN pin is enabled.

  • ILIM resistor is correctly defined.

  • Inductor and output capacitor values follow the datasheet recommendations.

  • Feedback divider is calculated for the desired negative output voltage.

However, the converter never starts switching in simulation.

My questions are:

  1. Are there any special pin connections required in the inverting configuration when using the PSpice model (for example COMP, RSC, REFCAP, or FAULT)?

  2. Is there a known limitation of the TPS7H4011-SP PSpice model when simulating the inverting topology?

  3. Could someone provide a working example schematic for the inverting configuration using this device?

Any guidance or example project would be greatly appreciated.

    There is a known limitation with the current revision of the TPS7H4011-SP PSPICE model that does not allow it to be used to simulate IBB topology.

    An update to the model is in development to add the capability of simulating IBB implementations.
