Need a Spice Model for the LM5088 Power Supply Switcher to confirm WEBENCH simulation results.

    The simulation result that you see in WEBEBCH is the result form a SPICE model itself. A standalone model will not yield any different results. What  exactly do you need to verify in the simulation result?

    The WEBENCH simulation as it currently stands has some serious problems:

    1) If you change the footprint of any component, or if you change a component to itself, the efficiency values drops 2%.

    2) Saves over the internet do not always produce predictable cause and effect backups.

    3) Some have reported chip faulting and burning on the forums. We do parametric studies of all boards  to examine their sensitivity to small variations.

    4) This is especially important in switching power supplies because of safety considerations.

    5) Nothing less than a full SPICE characterization is adequate for our application.

    Let's bring Gene Frantz into the conversation if there are any hitches to getting this going.

    I trust his experience in automation, verification, and testing.

    Thanks for the feedback. I don't think Gene works on the WEBENCH and SPICE modeling side so I will forward your request to the WEBENCH development team and they can have a look at your problem.

  • They are already looking at it, but we still need a TINA-SPICE model for the LM5088.
