PSPICE-FOR-TI: Convergence errors when simulating PMP9772

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61220, TPS61088, PMP9772

Hi,

I am trying to simulate the PMP9772 design from TI in Capture CIS 25.1/PSpice 25.1. I am using a TPS61220 and TPS61088 chip, as in the design, by downloading the TI simulation models for those two chips.

When I run the sim, the TPS61220 successfully boosts the voltage to a value higher than the minimum input voltage of the TPS61088. However, the simulation stops suddenly and reproducibly around 2-4 ms in(given no changes are made to the design or simulation settings). Sometimes, when it does this, it throws a convergence error. Other times, it just stalls indefinitely.

This occurs even if the enable pin hasn't been set high before the simulation freezes. Along with that, the current through the series resistor between the TPS61220 output and the TPS61088 VIN pin remains essentially 0 A throughout the simulation, including after EN is asserted.

If I separate the design, for example by providing an ideal 4.5 volt source into the TPS61088 or simulating just the TPS61220, the design works as intended. However, when I connect the two chips together, the simulation freezes and throws a convergence error. I have also tried changing simulator settings to no avail.

Because each model simulates correctly on its own and the issue only occurs when they are connected together, I suspect there may be an interaction between the two TI transient macro-models rather than a schematic issue

I have attached a screenshot of the design, along with a netlist, the .lib files of the 61220 and 61088, a sample problematic output, the dsn and opj files(the design is in the boost converter schematic).

Thanks,

Vishal
