TINA-TI zip-file invalid?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

I downloaded the TINA-TI (english) from http://www.ti.com/tool/tina-ti .  When I try to open or extract the contents I get a Win-7 message:  "Compressed (zipped) Folders Error:  ! Windows cannot open the folder.  The Compressed (zipped) Folder 'C:\...\sloc241c.zip' is invalid."  This problem persists when the download is repeated.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

  • Jonanthan,

    Thank you for the heads-up.

I downloaded the zip file a few moments ago and experienced the same error.

We obviously have a problem of some kind. I will look into this right away and let you know what I find.

    Thank you.

  • Hi John:  I have been emailing John Rice (TI-MGTS and presenter at the recent TI Power Supply Design Seminar) on a related matter.  He advises that he just downloaded and installed without issue.  I wonder if this is operating-system related...  I am running Win-7 Professional, Service-Pack 1.

  • Jonathan,

I just tried it with Win7/SP1 and it still has the error.
To be honest, I have not tried Win/XP, so can't confirm how it will behave with that OS.

It turns out that the posted files were recently corrupted by some compression that is not compatible with Windows.
Some clever detective work by one of my colleagues found the files were Win/zipped and then UNIX/gzipped.
We are working to correct this and ensure it doesn't happen again.

So if you don't mind the extra steps, first gunzip the downloaded file and then Win/unzip it; the TINA-TI installer should work.
At least that's what I found.
If you decide to give it a try and come to a different conclusion, please let me know.

We are working to correct this; hopefully the clean files will be available tomorrow morning.

Thanks for your interest and patience.

    Regards,

    John

  • John:  Sorry it has taken me so long to reply.  You were correct;  the download from the following morning unziped and installed as expected.  Works great now.  Thanks!
