LM5009 using TINA TI

Hello everybody,

Using the excel sheet I got on the TI site, I've calculated the components for use with the LM5009. Then, with the transient model TINA TI Spice Model I got from TI site I tried to develop and simulate the circuit in TINA TI, but the results were very different from those expected. Someone can explain me what mistake I am doing?

Min Voltage 20 V

Max Voltage 95V

output 15V ( from excel datasheet )

Output Voltage from TINA TI simulations - less 1 V

Hi Alfonso,

For the capacitors used in TINA-TI, Cpar is not the parasitic resistance. It is the resistance in parallel with the cap. Ideally it should be left unchanged from its default value of infinity in your schematics. If you change it to small values in the milliohm range, then the cap will get shorted. Apart from this, the simulation settings that you were using were giving convergence errors.

I took your schematic and implemented the same using the released TINA-TI Reference Design (http://www.ti.com/product/LM5009#simulationmodels). The released schematic is setup so that the simualtion will run out of the box and will not give you convergence errors. I was able to get the simulation worknig using this. Please see attached.
