verify output of tps40060 cct

hello All, I hv the circuit that is supposed to convert 48v 1A input to 5v 6A output using tps40060 , I am trying to confirm it by my own but yet not succeded due to inexpertise in design software, can anybody help me to just confirm whether the circuit gives desired o/p or not .

    Ahmed, the graphic did not come through in your post.  As I stated in another post, try SwticherPro using TPS40200 and see if it works.

    Can you respond in the correct.

    Using another seems like a bad response.  If TI doesn't support the chip who will?

    Hi Robin,

    TI does support TPS40060. You can obtains answers on this part in the "Non-Isolated DC/DC" forum. However, TI has not added the TPS40060 into SwitcherPro, which is our SMPS design tool. For people who are not familiar with SMPS design, it maybe more convenient to select a part that is integrated in SwitcherPro since SwitcherPro automated many of the design steps. Hence, we suggested that Ahmed take a look at the TPS40200, which is in SwitcherPro.

    In addition to the datasheet, we do provide a PSPICE macro model for the     TPS40060. It is available here: http://www.ti.com/spicerack

    Thanks for the response.

    I am hoping you can help me.

    I designed this part into a PCB without doing some initial testing.  And I am having problems getting it working.

    Over the weekend I blew a few devices.

    I am a pspice expert, but the orcad version of that model does not seem to work I always get this message.
    Unable to find netlist file:c:\documents and settings\robinb\desktop\tps40060_pspice_transient_model\tps40060_pspice_trans_02apr2009\tps40060-pspicefiles\startup\Startup-tran.out.net
    Since I use the original pspice there maybe compatibility issues.  I need to install orcad on a virgin computer.

     

    Also I was trying to use to switcher pro.

    Do you think that the TPS40055 or tps 400057 is a better model to use in switcher pro?  Since it seems to
 be a lower voltage version of the tps40060.

    Also would you have a spreadsheet that would allow me to change parameters?

    Hi Robin,

    Sorry for the delayed reply.

    The controller/converter PSPICE macro-models that TI releases are all encrypted. They will only work in Cadence SPB/PSPICE 15.7 or higher. Unfortunately, the TINA-TI model for this device is not yet available. We are working on it but I don't have a firm release date. If your company has an NDA with TI, you can request an unencrypted PSPICE model through your sales person. Sometimes the unencrypted models work in old versions of PSPICE.

    I asked one of the apps engineers who is very familar with the 40k line if you can use a TPS40055/TPS40057 SwitcherPro design with a TPS40060. He said "the voltage feed forward / UVLO resistor, the RT resistor, soft-start capacitor, current limit resistor and compensation components will all likely need to be changed". Unfortunately, that is essentially the entire design.

    I am not aware of any spreadsheet calculator for the TPS40060. I would highly recommend that you ask this question on the "Non-Isolated DC/DC" forum. Maybe someone has something.
