SwitcherPro Desktop v3.1.22 failure for TPS54160

This version still with bugs for TPS54160 because the "loop" page still showing a phase and gain margin graphics with different results after starting " what if"  analysis.

If the software calculates a compensation circuit with for example 60 degrees of phase margin, and then if you activate " what if" analysis without changing anything and then just press "calculate" button to just verify if the result is correct (for the same componentes values that the software calculated before), it will change to 42 degrees!

I already posted the same problem before and TI told me that this should be fixed

Does anyone knows which results is reliable?

I really need to design with TPS54160 for high volume production but this software seems to be just a loosing of time for engineers.

 

  • This issue is fixed in our next version v3.2 releasing tomorrow.

    it seems that the issue isn't completely gone. If simply the TPS54160EVM is selected and the what-if analysis is used, the crossover frequency changes from 39.3 to 38.7 and the phase margin from 36 to 37.
    This might be caused due to the fact that pressing CALCULATE changes R5 from 88600 to 88700. I didn't change any value - it was just done by the s/w itself.

    I was pointed to that issue based on a test design Bernd Geck did w/ TPS40192. It can be followed by selecting the TPS40192EVM and using what-if. Before CALCULATE the fco was 66.7kHz, after it changed to 55.1kHz. Phase Margin changed from 40 to 48. I didn't change any value in the compensation network, but the s/w changed R1 from 20000 to 19600 Ohm.
