Hello,
1. Got a schematics from the WEBBENCH - 48VDC input to 200VDC output at 0.4A implemented with TPS40210.
2. Tried to simulate it in TINA and it is not working. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Giora,
Do you have the .TSC file that we could evaluate? Also, what exactly do you mean by "it is not working"?
With more information and the example, we might be able to help.
Britt
Britt,
Here is the TSC file.
Can you check and see Why I do not get the 200V output?
Thanks,

Giora,
Can you give me the requirements of the supply. Right now, you have 48V in and want 200V out, correct? The load in the schematic is 4 Ohms, which gives a output current of 50A which will not happen using the TPS40210. If you could let me know the acutal output current required and some of the design considerations you used for determining the loop and operating frequency that would be most helpful.
The device does start switching if you make the load more reasonable, however, the circuit still does not regulate.
Britt
Britt,
You are right, the load resistor is missing, it should be 500 ohm.
This circuit should be a power supply for a laser diode driver - wiyh this spec:
1. 200V input voltage
2. At least 0.4A current
3. laser diode pulses of 100A at 100Khz rep rate.
Giora
Giora,
Yes, that is the same design that I generated in WEBENCH® as well. There are a few issues with your circuit. R7 should be 37.4k, not 37.4. R10 should be 0.507, not 507M (507e6). Once these are corrected and I add your 500 ohm load, the simulation runs a little, but the Overcurrent protection is tripped by the FET and diode models being used. Once I replace them with a more generic model, I still get the OC to trip, but at least the waveforms begin to look more meaningful.
In order to keep the model from tripping the Overcurrent, I changed the sense resistor (R3) to 15mohm and the Soft start capacitor to 1uF (C2). Now, the simulation runs correctly with the ideal models. When I make these changes to your schematic and use the original FET and diode models, the simulation runs but trips the OC again.
Please see the attached .TSC file. Please note that the simulation now runs for 80mS and takes a couple of minutes to run on my machine. Other changes were to a 6.6uF Cin capacitor (C6) and a ramp instead of a battery for Vin.
