UCC28019 Transient Response (Gate Signal)

I've been playing around with the transient model of the UCC28019 for PSpice. and haven't quite been able to understand the nature of the gate pulse. Simulating the circuit provided by TI without any modifications, gives the gate voltage as (*Gate voltage given by red).:



Now, I was of the opinion that the gate signal would have a nature similar to that of a square wave, however, what I got was a full wave rectified signal at the gate. Seeing that the nature of the signal of the gate was similar to the input (no idea why), replaced the sinusoidal source at the input with a pulse input. Results at the gate pin were as follows:

With the gate signal once again being determined by the nature of the input. Could anyone please shed some ligth on this
