TPS54226 vs TPS54326 Efficiency

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54326, TPS54226

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to compare the efficiency of TPS54226 with TPS54326.

Therefore, they simulated it on a condition as follows.

[condition]

-Vin=7.6V to 8.4V

-Vout=0.9V

-Iout=1.2A(max)

However, TPS54226(Efficiency=85%) is higher than TPS54326(Efficiency=81.5%) at Vin=8.4V , Iout=0.5A.

Is this result correct?

And, they would like to make the Y-axis the same range.

Can the Webench support this?

Regards,

Kanemaru

  • Hello Kanemaru-san,

By doing a comparison of TPS54226 and TPS54326 measurements for EVM test conditions, TPS54326 has always higher efficiency in CCM region but the behavior changes in light load operation.

The efficiency of both parts is very close for low Vin values (5V) for low Iout values; as Vin increases, TPS54326 efficiency is lower than TPS54226 and that is the trend that we are seeing in our WEBENCH models too. But keep in mind that WEBENCH models have an error of +/-3%.

About adjusting the chart axis, it is auto scale but I will bring your concern to our software team's attention.

    Best Regards,

    Flora

Thank you for your kind support!

I understood. thank you very much.
