LP3982 - Device's full output range not allowed in WEBENCH

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP3982

Hello,

LP3982 can have an output voltage set from 1.25V - 6V, but WEBENCH restricts this to 1.8V - 3.3V.

Is this intentional (a limitation of the WEBENCH model for this part), or in error?

Thanks,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,
The WEBENCH launch panel should indeed show that VoutMax = 6V. The WEBENCH Design is set up to support it, using the ADJ version of the LDO.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We'll address it shortly.

In the mean-time, if you enter your design parameters from one of the general-purpose WEBENCH launch panels, the LP3982-ADJ will be considered for it using its full operating range of VinMax up to 6V and Vout up to 6V. Note that you have to leave a little space for dropout: Using Vin=6V, Vout=5.9V, Load=0.1A, the LP3982-ADJ was offered as one of the top solutions.
  • Thanks Wanda. I was actually interested in the lower-bound (1.5Vout), so I checked in general-purpose WEBENCH, and LP3982-ADJ does come up as an option in that case as well.

Thanks for addressing the issue on the product page widget.
