USB to GPIO controller

My apologies if this is not the correct place to post this but i am looking to use the TI USB to GPIO converter just to control the logic on the output pins (no PMBus, SMBus or I2C). Should this be possible with the packaged software or does it need a slave board? When i have connected it up and successfully installed the USB driver it still says 'Adapter not attached'

Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • I can't vouch for the software included on the USB-to-GPIO webpage, as I haven't used it.

Most of the people on this Forum would have used it with the Fusion Digital Power Designer which does have a tool that can toggle 5 of the Control Lines.

The USB-to-GPIO will be recognized by the host system as an HID device, no additional drivers are required (mouse and keyboard show up as HID devices also).

The control lines will always default to the Low state at power up.

Load Fusion SW, then navigate the Start menu for the Tools folder in the Fusion folder and click on the SMBus &I2C & SAA Debug Tool

The radio buttons for the Control lines are located in the window that opens, shown below.
