Interactive analysis and Thyristors in TINA

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Sorry to pop a 2 in 1, hope it's ok.

Recently I wanted to simulate circuits with thyristors, but can't find them or any mention to them inside TINA. Are they hidden somewhere? I'm guessing there is a full version of TINA or something like that.

I also came across a reference about doing interactive analysis in TINA, but failed to get it done. As an exemple, I wanted to simulate a Latch-On circuit with 2 transistors using a button On-Off for the trigger. In the end, I used a switch with the timer function combined with the transiente analysis (works perfect), but wanted to know if I can manually press buttons and watch the changes immediately reflected on the results (with the interactive analysis). Maybe this is also a feature in a complete version of TINA?

Thank you!

  • Jorge,
Thyristor models are available in the TINA Industrial Spice macro library.
Unfortunately they are not available in the TINA-TI Spice macro libraries.
If you have a model netlist you can create your own macro using the TINA New Macro Wizard.
An app note is available that describes how to do this. It is titled "Importing a SPICE NetList into TINA9-TI" and is available on www.ti.com as lit number SLVA527.
A switch in the TINA-TI model library might allow some real-time modeling. It is available in the Switches library.
There are no event-driven sim modes available in TINA-TI.
    Regards,
    John
  • Great resource!

I'll be entertained for a good while now.

    Thank you
