I want to build RTLS system from scratch. What are the suggestions for technologies like WiFi, 6LoPAN, Bluetooth, etc? If you can also suggest some of the best possible algorithms for RTLS, it would be great. Does TI have any reference design for this? If yes please give a pointer.

Vishal,

I have seen location systems using our CC1310 and zigbee, however we do not have any reference designs for this.
Basically, you have a base station, stationary nodes, and the node you wish to track. You can track where your node is in relation with the stationary nodes to get a position which is relayed to the base station.

Here is a slide deck with the algorithm using our older CC2431, but can be accomplished with our newer CC1310 wireless MCU.

Thanks Joshua. That was a good help.

I have understood up till now is the very basic things that I need for implementing indoor RTLS is RSSI supported protocol like WiFi/Bluetooth/ZigBee.

Now if I select a WiFi for such a system implementation, I need to have multiple Access points which can track the nodes in it's coverage area.

1> Is it possible to get RSSI value from AP for a particular node in range?

2> Also is it possible that a node is connected to multiple APs at the same time, so all in rage APs can detect RSSI level for that particular node?

If not which technology/protocol fulfills such a requirement?

It seems to be exactly what you are trying to do.
Our CC3200 MCU w/WiFi could be good for this application as you could use the M4 for your location calculations.
