TPS62152 - Running model in LTSpice

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62152, TINA-TI

My customer is attempting to run TI’s TPS62152 Buck Converter Spice model in LTSpice, but is getting errors. Can you provide any suggestions?

The error log reports N002 and N003 as floating. These are the PG and SS_TR pins respectively.

  • John,

I have to assume that your customer obtained the unencrypted PSpice model for this purpose. The model in the product folder is encrypted and can only be run in PSpice version 15.7 or higher. We also have TINA-TI support for the device.

We are not allowed to support LTSpice per their EULA. Normally, when nodes are reported a floating, the node requires a connection based on the internals of the model. Simply tying a resistor to PG and capacitor to SS_TR should correct the issue. Here is the reference design circuit that TINA uses:

I believe that the TPS62152 model will run correctly in LTSpice or any other spice simulator that supports PSpice model import.

  • John,

The TPS62152 is also fully enabled in WEBENCH® and your customer could do his custom design, simulation, thermal analysis, and board layout in the WEBENCH® environment.
