Simulating LM2596 using webench, cant find solution to match the requirements.

Hi,

I'm trying to simulate the LM2596 adj as a buck converter before attempting to work on my final project which is a 9V buck converter with varying inputs from 15V to 37V and 1.33A current but when i tried to input my design parameters on LM2596 interactive design I am faced with the following error:

"We're sorry, we could not find a solution to match these requirements. Please check to make sure your inputs are within the correct corresponding range. "

I don't know why webench can't simulate my desired parameters but when i tried to change the output voltage to 4V with the same input voltage of 15V to 37V and current of 1.33A, It gives me the correct design and simulation for 4V output.

What could be the issue for this and any suggestion on how can i fix this error?

John,

I tried your input conditions of Vin = 15V - 37V, Vout = 9V @ 1.33A (Optimizer Position 3), and I also could not get a solution from WEBENCH. WEBENCH tools provide a reason for why the design could not be created. You need to click on "Show Why Parts Were Not Found". The reason given in this case is that the circuit was not stable.

Then I tried the other optimizer dial positions. I could not get a design at Positions 1, 4 and 5, but I was able to create a design at Optimizer Position 2. Please try your design at Optimizer Position 2 and you should be able to get a working design.

Hello,
I am getting the same problem like Mr. John with LM2596 3.3. Would you please explain me what is the "optimiser dial position"? Even spice model of the same displaying error (ERROR(ORPSIM-15108): Subcircuit LM2596_3P3_TRANS used by X_U2 is undefined).
