XTR116 TINA Simulation Model

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR116, XTR115, TINA-TI

Hi Dear TI and Other Forum Members,

I am new to TINA.I could not find a model for XTR116 or XTR115 which I wanted to simulate.

I am also worried about why is this component model not put in

http://focus.ti.com/adc/docs/midlevel.tsp?contentId=55102 " where models for many TI devices are given.

Can you please help me with a moder for the same and also with some knowledge about how to find models in case I confront such problem again?

Thank You very much.

Best Regards,

BC

  • Hi,

Thanks for not replying for long.I got the model from TINA-TI Examples.

  • Hi,

The simulation model given in the examples of TINA-TI for current loop transmitter xtr116 in not functioning as specified.

I have tested it on TINA-TI and TINA 8 .

It  Current in the output loop was not changing when the input Voltage is changed from 0.1 to 1 Volts and it is not working according to the datasheet.

Can any TI source  give me a working simulation model?

    Thank You sir.

    Regards,

    BC

  • Hi BC,

The existing circuit that is loaded into the examples was not originally intended to be included as it is not an actual spice model for the XTR115/XTR116.  It is essentially a behavioral model showing the general functionality of the device.

With that said, it looks like the amplifier is installed upside down.  The circuit can be corrected by cutting and pasting the amplifier in another section of the circuit.  Right click on the amplifier and select mirror.  Then rotate the amplifier so that it is now oriented correctly and then paste it back into the circuit.  The circuit will now work correctly.

  • Hi Scott, Thank You very much for the reply. That worked. But can we get a spice model for XTR116 please? Sampling always is wasting time and resources. Please suggest what to do if any TI user cant get spice models of ICs (from TI Site) Thanks and regards, BC
  • BC,

While we strive to have a SPICE macromodel for every analog product, we don't have one for everything. If you can't find what you need, then the best thing to do is what you did: post a question here in the forum and we'll do our best to get you something you can use. The XTR116 example is the best we can offer now for your particular need.
